This is my personal thoughts, opinions and musings place. I will also rant about things, especially politically-correct things that irritate me. And sci-fi. Did I mention sci-fi? There'll be lots of sci-fi stuff here. And movies, too. Mmmmm... Movies

Continuing with an odd idea

The rules are:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

“This means that you can use the backslash inside these quotes to remove the meaning of characters that otherwise would be interpreted inside double quotes (that is, other backslashes, dollar signs, back quotes, newlines, and other double quotes). If the backslash precedes any other characer inside double quotes, the backslash is ignored by the shell and passed on the to the program. In the first example, the backslash precedes the dollar sign, interpreted by the shell inside double quotes. So the shell ignores the dollar sign, removes the backslash, and executes echo. In the second example, the backslash precedes a space, not interpreted by the shell inside double quotes.” Unix Shell Programming by Stephen G. Kochan and Patrick Wood.

Repeat this on your own blog.
